Carol F. Anderson, 90, Seymour, passed away at 12:14 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany.
Carol was a member of First Baptist Church, Seymour. She had the longest membership at First Baptist Church, having joined on Easter Sunday 1931. She was active in her church, where she was a member of the Rebecca Class, was a Deaconess and taught an elementary Sunday school class, mostly fifth-grade girls, for more than 40 years. She graduated from Seymour High School and attended Indiana University. She taught first and second grades at Lincoln Elementary School. Carol was also a volunteer for many years at Schneck Medical Center.
Born April 10, 1920, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Charles and Estella (Tobias) Foster, both of whom preceded her in death. On Aug. 2, 1947, at Seymour First Baptist, she married Dr. Robert L. Anderson, who preceded her in death March 5, 1995.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Jo (Gary) Selfridge; grandchildren, Andrew (Lisa) Selfridge, Kristen (Chris) Baird and Matthew (Ashley) Selfridge; great-grandchildren, Calleigh Brooke Baird, Ryan Anderson Baird and Logan Michael Selfridge; and a brother, Robert Foster.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Morris Foster, Charles Forrest Foster and Merrill Morton Foster.
The Rev. Bruce Cochran will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss dove release.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
