Jessie J. Baird Obituary
Seymour Daily TribuneJessie J. Baird, 66, Butlerville, died at 12:04 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Mr. Baird was a retired union carpenter from Force Construction Company of Columbus and a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Born July 4, 1940, in Pleasant View, Ky., he was the son of Clyde and Ruby Capps Baird, who preceded him in death. He married Marianna Jackson Shepherd on April 26, 1986. She survives.
Other survivors include six daughters, Carol Adams, Syracuse, Tammy Simpson, Seymour, Vanessa Craig, Stephanie Louden, Sherry Lafferty, all of North Vernon, and Sharon Whicker, Brook, Tenn.; one son, Carl Shepherd, Butlerville; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha Callahan, North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sterling Baird and Horace Baird; and two sisters, Elsie Ellis and Wanda Perry.
The Rev. Jon Beck will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pickett Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Bethel Baptist Church or Hospice of Jennings County.
