Lynn Chalmers Bateman Jr., 54, North Vernon, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Bateman was a member of the Community Church in Elizabethtown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for Elyria Fence Co. in Elyria, Ohio, for 20 years. He and his wife moved to Jennings County in 1989.
Born October 30, 1947, in Cleveland, he was a son of Lynn Chalmers Bateman Sr. and Elizabeth Ann Greenwood Bateman. On May 16, 1969, in Mercer County, Pa., he married Pamela Marie Wilhelm, who survives in North Vernon.
Other survivors include two daughters, Donna Smallwood, Norman, and Andrea Vogel, North Vernon; two sons, Paul Bateman and Lynn Bateman III, both of North Vernon; two brothers, Joseph Bateman, Levittsburg, Ohio, and Robert Bateman, Hernando, Miss.; two sisters, Catherine Hunt, Bradenton, Fla., and Mary Pesecky, Garrettsville, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Bateman, and two sisters, Margaret Cassidy and Nancy Pearson.
Dennis Wilhelm will conduct services at 10 a.m. Monday at Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison. Military graveside services will be conducted by North Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
