Donald Richard Becker, 75, Seymour, and formerly of Petersburg, died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Mr. Becker graduated from Seminario Concordia in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1953 with a teaching degree. In 1957 he immigrated to the United States. He then began a career in the telephone industry and retired in 1991 from Contel. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.

Born July 7, 1931, in Mondai, Santa Catarina, Brazil, South America, he was the son of the Rev. William Adolph Herman Becker and Amelia Cornelia Biehle Becker, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 2, 1960, in Genoa, Illinois, he married Ester Roll, also from Brazil. She survives.

Other survivors include five children, Susan (Charles Jr.) Aldridge, Indiana, Douglas Becker, Texas, Dennis (Valerie) Becker, Roger (Lisa) Becker, both of Ohio, and Kenneth Becker, California; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Aldridge, Abby Aldridge, Dennis Becker, Melissa Becker, Jesse Becker, Emma Becker, Alex Becker, Bryce Becker; one brother, Winfred (Eugenia) Becker; two sisters, Dorothea Scherer, Felicia (Osvaldo) Volkart; and one sister-in-law, Maria Becker.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Roland Becker; two sisters, Isabella Becker and Dolores Anderson; and two brothers-in-law, Karl Scherer and Wilbert Anderson.

Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to LCMS World Relief, Brazil Mission Society, or Schneck Cancer Center.
