Oneida (Whitney) Blewett Obituary
Tribune - November 11, 2010Oneida Blewett, 93, Seymour, passed away at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Blewett lived with her family in Bowling Green, Kentucky, until they moved to Seymour in 1952. She was a member of State Street Baptist Church in Bowling Green.
Born September 16, 1917, in Bowling Green, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Vernie Stovall Whitney, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Melvin Caldwell Blewett Jr. on August 8, 1935, and to this union seven children were born.
Surviving and cherishing her memory are two children, Veatrice (Daniel) Thomas, Seymour, and Ralph J. Blewett, Columbus; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Virgil and Melvin Blewett; daughter, Barbara Blewett Booker; two infant children; three brothers, John, Elbert and James Whitney; and three grandchildren.
The Rev. Brenda Wilson and the Rev. Ron Norris will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, with a Voss dove release.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
