Stanley Eugene Bock Obituary

Stanley Eugene Bock, 82, Hope, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Bock retired from Dalton and Payne clothing store after 22 years of employment. He had been a radio announcer in Evansville, Terre Haute and WCSI Columbus. He was Hoppy's pal of Hoppalong Cassidy as a disc jockey. He was a television announcer at WFBM and did live remotes. He worked at Sears Large Appliances, Horn's Appliances and Supreme Health Spa. He had been a dry cleaning shop manager and drove for CVS on a Kodak film route. He volunteered as a teacher's aid at Rockcreek Elementary School for Dick Howe. He was a former member of the Optimist Club and was a devoted caregiver for Josephine Baker for eight years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and bird watching on the lake and river settings of Schaefer Lake, Lake Monroe and Driftwood River. He was an artistic and talented oil and acrylic painter and he loved all sporting events.
Mr. Bock attended New Life Christian Center Church in Austin and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Born Nov. 14, 1923, in Shinnston, West Virginia. He was the son of Ellis Bock and Audrey Keener Bock, both of whom preceded him in death. He married ex-wife Ruth Stiening Potter and she survives in Madison. On November 28, 1970, he married Dianne Baker, and she survives in Hope.
Other survivors include two sons, Ken Lee (Cindy) Bock, Dupont, and Delvin Wayne (Ginger) Bock, Indianapolis; one daughter, Rita Netherton, Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren, Adam Kenneth, Acquilla David, Bethany Leah, Asher Lee, Amzi Wayne, Corinnah Grace, Dulcie Anna, Esther Elizabeth, Avery Victor and Flora Ellen Bock, and Stephanie Alexis and Stacy Elise Wilson and Austin Taylor Netherton, and one great grandchild, Caleb Bock.
He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Eugene Bock in 1993, and two infant brothers, Max Lee Bock and Keith Kay Bock.
Pastor Gary Cooper and Pastor Del Bock will conduct funeral services at 7:30 p.m. today at New Life Christian Center Church, Austin, and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home, Columbus.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until time of service today at the church and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus.
A military graveside service will be conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
