Benny E. Booker Obituary
Seymour Daily Tribune
Benny E. Booker, 75, Seymour, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2002, at Heritage House of Seymour.
He worked at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center for 26 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Born January 7, 1927, in Edinburgh, he was a son of Everett Glen Booker and Tillie Kathryn Barnes Booker.
Survivors include a son, Fred Booker, Columbus; three daughters, Patricia Booker, Seymour, Wanda Blair, Columbus, and Joan Young, North Vernon; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles W. Booker, Los Angeles; and three sisters, Catherine Booker and Carolyn Jo Kelly, both of Los Angeles, and Ladonna Armstrong, Columbus.
Seven brothers preceded him in death.
The Rev. Gregory Bonds will conduct graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverview Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 89, VFW Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Service, Burkholder Chapel, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Bethel AME Church.
