Winona Elizabeth "Toby" Brewer, 81, Vallonia, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. She had been ill for several years.
She was a member of Driftwood Christian Church and attended Brownstown Christian Church. She worked at Fedco Department Store in Lakewood, California, and retired from Lucky Grocery Store Corp. offices in La Palma, California. She enjoyed vacationing with family in Maui, Hawaii, and enjoyed gardening and entertaining.
Born January 18, 1929, in Vallonia, she was the daughter of Lowery Herman and Leafy Jane Sommers Callahan. She married Robert J. Brewer on January 17, 1998, in Brownstown, and he survives.
Other survivors include children, Rebecca Luann Pavone of Placentia, California, and Elizabeth Sue Elia-Gold of Seal Beach, California; grandchildren, Angela Pauline (Greg) Machado and Nicholas Joseph Gold; great-granddaughter, Madison Lynn Machado; stepchildren, Steve (Tina) Brewer of Vallonia, Nancy (Chris) Myers of Madison and Kathy (Mark) Dove of North Vernon; stepgrandchildren, Ryan Myers, Nancy Lee Myers, Brittany Drabyn, Michael Brewer and Charlie Dove; and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret Lorraine Morstad and Ora Ann Hand; brother, Jack Herman Callahan; and stepgrandson, Jonathon Brewer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, with Michael Hogg and Gary Morning officiating. Burial will be at Vallonia Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
