Fern I. (Garriott) Bryan Obituary
Tribune -January 4, 2011Fern I. Bryan, 96, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Tampico, passed away January 2, 2011, at her home at Colonial Park Club, Sarasota, Florida
Mrs. Bryan was a member of Tampico Baptist Church and attended St. John Methodist Church in Sarasota. She was a homemaker and was very active in the ladies group, taught Sunday school and was involved with other committees at St. John Methodist Church. She lived in Sarasota for 30 years.
Born October 15, 1914, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Paul Garriott and Jessie Rutherford Garriott, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 1, 1948, in Scottsburg, she married Hugh Bryan, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include children, Sandra (Norris) Kovener, Crothersville, and Jean (Robert) Montfort, Matawan, N.J.; brother, Paul Garriott Jr., Elizabeth; sisters, Ruth Payne, North Port, Florida, and Alice Jean (Claude) Polley, Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Bryan (Richelle) Kovener, Michelle (Mike) Lamonea and Melissa Montfort; great-grandchildren, Preston Kovener, Makayla Montgomery, Savannah Kovener and Jocelyn and Jayden Lamonea.
She was preceded in death by one stillborn child; brothers, Colby Garriott and Marion Garriott; and a grandson, Eric Kovener.
Harold Morrow will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Tampico Christian Church. Burial will take place at Russell Chapel Cemetery.
