Seymour Tribune - May 30, 2007

Franklin John Burbrink, 17, Columbus, died early Monday morning, May 28, 2007, in rural Jackson County.

A junior at Columbus East High School, Frank was active in 4-H, FFA, Junior Fair Board and National Junior Swine Association and was the Junior Leader representative on the Bartholomew County Fair Board. He would have been awarded the Hoosier Degree this June at the Indiana State FFA Convention. His favorite 4-H projects included welding, swine, dairy, Junior Leaders, soybeans, alfalfa and crops.

In the past few years, Frank took an interest in breeding hogs for showing and was interested in helping 4-H’ers breed pigs in the future.

He collected hats and enjoyed hunting, tractor pulls, livestock shows and fairs. He also enjoyed working on the family farm and learning how to make things work. He excelled academically in the C4 machines trades program and was a Torch Time mentor at East.

In the future, Frank planned to work on the family grain and dairy farm with his father, Greg, and his brother, Nathan. He was the proud uncle of Josie, Grace and Jack Burbrink and enjoyed spending time with family. He was a devoted friend to many and was committed to helping others.

Born May 13, 1990, in Columbus, he was a son of Bonnie and Greg Burbrink, who survive.

Other survivors include a sister, Carrie Burbrink, Minneapolis; two brothers, Cliff (Hillary) Burbrink, Westport, and Nathan (Liz) Burbrink, Columbus; aunts and uncles, Eva and Bob Trapp, North Olmsted, Ohio, Jill Owens, Evansville, and Tony and Milly Harden, Phil and Cheri Harden, Connie and Larry Nolting and Kathy and David Harden, all of Columbus; grandmother, Maxine Harden, Columbus; three nieces and nephews, Josie and Grace Burbrink, Columbus, and Jack Burbrink, Westport; and several cousins.
