Gilbert Burchell Obituary
Seymour Daily Tribune
Gilbert "Bud" Burchell, 78, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at Lutheran Community Home.
Mr. Burchell served in the U.S. Army as a medical technician and was stationed in the Philippines. He retired from Force Construction as a Union Carpenter Local 1775. He was a member of Seymour American Legion and Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he was a former usher, and was a member of the dartball league.
Born December 10, 1927, in Manchester, Clay County, Kentucky, he was a son of John S. and Sarah Price Burchell, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 18, 1948, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Wegan, he married Gladys Marie Otte, who survives. They had been married 58 years.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ann Burchell, Seymour; two sons, Larry (Janet) Burchell, Paris Crossing, and Thomas (Kimbee) Burchell, Seymour; two sisters, Cinette (Roland) Kelsh and Linda Shank, both of Seymour; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Barrow, John Burchell, Melissa Davidson, Heather Garrett and Kristy Fritsch; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan Burchell and Gabe Burchell.
The Rev. Andrew Currao will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to ARC or Redeemer Lutheran Church.
