Vickie Sheffield Byrd, 61, rural Seymour, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Byrd was a 1967 Crothersville High School graduate. She taught at Anchor Baptist Academy in Seymour, was employed at the former U.S. Shoe Corp. in Crothersville and worked at Eyes on You with Dr. Linda Fischer as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Marion Baptist Church, served on the Crothersville Sesquicentennial Board, loved crocheting, fishing and gardening and thought of her family as her number one priority.
Born December 6, 1948, in Seymour, she was the daughter of James and Lillian Jolly Sheffield, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 28, 1967, she married Edward T. Byrd, who survives in rural Seymour.
Other survivors include two children, a daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Brian Jones, Crothersville, and a son, James Byrd, of rural Seymour; two grandchildren, Clayton Byrd and Jimmy Jones, both of Crothersville; one brother and his wife, Tom and Christine Sheffield, North Carolina; nieces and nephews that she helped raise, Mary Dowling, Paris Crossing, Jimmy Sheffield, Crothersville, Amber Terry, Jennings County, and Zach Lett, Paris Crossing; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Pee Wee Sheffield.
Robert Franklin will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will follow at Marion Baptist Cemetery, Jennings County.
Friends may visit the family from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
