Kent Louis Cardinal, 52, North Vernon, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010, at his home.
Born January 11, 1958, in Seymour, he was the son of Paul and Agnes Elsner Cardinal. He married Karen Todd on March 7, 1987, and she survives.
He owned Cardinal Insurance, where he was an insurance agent since 1985. He was a 1976 graduate of Jennings County High School and graduated from Indiana University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in business management and business administration. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Eagles Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He supported many local organizations. He enjoyed hunting, playing golf, swimming and outdoor activities. He also was an avid fan of "The Andy Griffith Show."
Survivors include his wife, Karen, and four children, Josh, Kelsi, Jon and Jackson, all of North Vernon; a brother, Mike Cardinal of Kennesaw, Georgia; Pat, Greg and Jude Cardinal, all of North Vernon; a sister, Paulette Alquist of Ohio; and one grandson, Jacob.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, North Vernon, with Father Jonathan Meyer officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home, North Vernon. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
