H. Monty Chambers Obituary
Tribune - April 15, 2010 1924 - 2010
H. Monty Chambers, 85, Seymour, passed away at 11:13 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at his home in Seymour.
Mr. Chambers was a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School and a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a 1948 graduate of Purdue University. He was employed as general manager for Golden Foundry, Columbus, for 23 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at Purdue University and American Legion Post 89, Seymour.
Born May 5, 1924, in Springfield, Illinois, he was the son of Harry Charles and Margaret E. Kern Chambers, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Carylon Kautz on January 24, 1981, in Columbus, and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Margaret Chambers (Jerry) Moody, Naperville, Illinois, Elizabeth Fay Chambers, Chicago, and Carolyn Chambers (Edward) Searles, McKinney, Texas; two sons, Robert Jamison (Jeannine) Chambers, Norcross, Georgia, and Brian William (Cynthia) Kautz, Charlevoix, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Martha (Frank) Sprude, Warrenville, Illinois, Jonathan Moody, Naperville, Illinois, Jamison and Varrick Chambers, both of Norcross, Georgia, Jessica and Alex Searles, both of McKinney, Texas, Amy Kautz, Jacksonville, Florida, William and Matthew Kautz, both of Charlevoix, Michigan, and Megan Kautz, Birmingham, Alabama; and a great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Sprude, Warrenville, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Penny Billiter.
The Rev. Marsha Rodenberger will conduct a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday at his home for family and friends.
Upon the request of the family, cremation rites have been accorded.
