Mary A.(Pearl) Cheesebrew Obituary
Tribune - December 28, 2010Mary A. Cheesebrew, 95, North Vernon, passed away at 4:51 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Mrs. Cheesebrew retired from Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in 1971 after 20 years. She also worked at the USDA office in Jennings County. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was active in Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was a life member of the Moose Lodge, Royal Neighbors of America and the Oakdale Community Club. She enjoyed water aerobics, painting, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Born July 29, 1915, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of William Thomas Pearl and Anna Dickerson Pearl, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Lewis Cheesebrew on September 11, 1932, and he preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Edythe Stilwell, Seymour, and Mary Jean Todd, North Vernon; one son, Floyd Cheesebrew, North Vernon; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Richard, John and Gerald Cheesebrew; one granddaughter, Glenda Matern; and three great-grandchildren, Stacy Matern, Corbin Cheesebrew and Clyde Knoll Jr.
The Rev. Jonathan Meyer will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, North Vernon. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery.
