Verna M. (Schroer) Claycamp Obituary
Seymour TribuneVerna M. Claycamp, 85, Seymour, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour.
She was a 1942 graduate of Shields High School and worked as a secretary and clerk at Freeman Field during World War II, and then as a clerk in sales for Goodyear Tire Company in Seymour for over 22 years before retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Claycamp was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, where she served in Zion Women's Fellowship, formerly the Ladies Aid.
Born November 2, 1923, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Edward and Lizetta Thiele Schroer, both of whom preceded her in death. On October 4, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, she married James M. Claycamp, who survives in Seymour.
Other survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Mark) Darlage, Seymour, and Donna (Ernie) Dettmer, Columbus; four grandchildren, Scott Darlage, Seattle, Washington, Angela (Cade) Swallows, Chandler, Arizona, Carrie Dettmer, Vacaville, California, and Jill (Derek) Harris, Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Golda Thompson, Seymour; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura Phillips, Edna Heideman and Agnes Oberman.
The Rev. Jeffrey Stuckwisch will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
