Ernest Marion "Ernie" Coffelt, 75, Seymour, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at his residence.
He was born in Cortland on September 28, 1935, the son of the late Moses Henry and Hazel Pearl Elkins Coffelt. He was a graduate of Shields High School, Class of 1954.
Ernie was a member of First Baptist Church, Seymour, and had retired from Cummins Engine Co. He loved to draw, do puzzles and take pictures and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his children, Evelyn (David) Dugger, Jon Coffelt and Daniel (Tanya) Coffelt; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Coffelt; one sister-in-law, Kathy Coffelt; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tim Coffelt; brother, Gene Coffelt; and an infant brother, John Coffelt.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, with the Rev. Bruce Cochran officiating.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, with a full military graveside service being conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Seymour.
