Donald R. Cole Obituary
Tribune - January 22, 2010
Donald R. Cole, 80, Seymour, passed away at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mr. Cole served in the U.S. Army as a corporal in the Korean War. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Seymour, and was very active, as he served on the Deacon Board and Food and Fellowship Committee. He retired as an ironing board inspector at Lear Siegler (now Seymour Housewares) after 43 years. He enjoyed his work, as he had perfect attendance for all 43 years.
Born November 5, 1929, in Surprise, he was the son of Ralph Harrison and Stella Katherine Simmons Cole, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 3, 1951, in Seymour, he married Lavonne Emilyn Stanfield Cole, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Debra Jane (Timothy W.) Freshour; son, Michael Ray (Jackie) Cole; grandchildren, Tracey Michelle Cole (Ed) Brennen, Haley Renee Freshour and Jacob Cole Freshour; great-grandchildren, Emmalynne Marie Neal and Alexia Rae Rieckers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Harrison Cole, Virgal Cole, Ronald Eugene Cole and Paul Robert Cole, and a sister, Virginia Trotter.
The Rev. David Schrock and the Rev. Jim Downey will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Seymour. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, with a Voss dove release and full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
