Christine Spencer Colwell Obituary
Seymour Tribune - May 27, 2007Christine Spencer Colwell, 83, Crothersville, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2007, with her family by her side, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.
Mrs. Colwell had worked in the housekeeping department at Schneck Medical Center and cleaned homes for many people. She moved to Crothersville with her family from Hazard, Ky., in 1952. She was a 54-year member of Crothersville Nazarene Church and also was a member of Crothersville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing bingo. When she was able, she enjoyed taking care of people and driving her friends to places where they needed to be and helping any way she could to benefit their lives. She enjoyed being with her family and was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by anyone who was touched by her 83 years of life.
Born September 30, 1923, in Jackson, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Bell Howard Spencer and her stepmother, Gracie Spencer.
Survivors include five children, Billy C. “Collie” (Pam) Colwell, Medora, and Phyllis A. (Dennis) Beswick, James A. “Toot” (Brenda) Colwell, Barbara J. (Rob) Hall and Lloyd “Lump” (Peggy) Colwell, all of Crothersville; three brothers, Eugene Spencer, Sisters, Ore., Johnny Spencer, Somerset, Kentucky, and Dexter Spencer, Jackson, Kentucky; three sisters, Rose Mae Hall, Dayton, Kentucky., Anna Grace McIntosh, Science Hill, Kentucky, and Martha Jo Hollin, Erlanger, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Billy C. Colwell, Jr., Crothersville, Keith Allen (Sherri) Prince, Columbus, Scott Prince, Crothersville, Michael Colwell, Crothersville, Tanya Colwell, Crothersville, Bobby Hall and Jennifer (Kenny) Wienhorst, both of Paris Crossing, and Amber Colwell and Andrea Colwell, both of Crothersville; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Prince, a brother and three sisters.
The Rev. Mark Wooten will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will follow at Crothersville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
