Robert F. Davis Sr. Obituary

Robert F. Davis Sr., 79, Seymour, died May 10, 2006, at Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus.
Mr. Davis was a retired furniture manufacturer representative and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Wheeling High School in 1944 and the Elliott School of Business in 1947. He served his country in World War II as a sergeant with the military police in Germany, and later achieved the rank of captain in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion and liked to garden.
Born September 6, 1926, in Mannington, W. Va., he was a son of Ira P. and Anna G. Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 12, 1948, he married Grace Karcher, in Wheeling, West Virginia, who survives.
Other survivors include three children, Bob (Patty) Davis, Troy, Michigan, Alan (Sara) Davis, Greenfield, and Rhonda (David) Earley, Seymour; eight grandchildren, Allison and Skylar Earley, Alexander Davis, Trevor and Elesse Davis, Summer, Jordyn and Matthew Graves; one brother, Charles Davis, Norwalk, Ohio; and one sister, Nellie Schaffer, Wheeling, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Graves; two sisters and one brother.
The Rev. Rick Grant will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW #1925, American Legion #89, Disabled American Veterans #47 and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
