Veteran Delbert “Joe” Doyle, 81, Seymour, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Floyd Memorial Hospital, New Albany.

Mr. Doyle was a member of First Baptist Church, Seymour, and was a veteran of World War II. He had been retired from Brown’s and Jay’s Grocery since 1985.

Born February 10, 1921, in Clay County, Kentucky, he was a son of Cornelius Doyle and Ada Belle Murrell Doyle. On November 16, 1940, he married Jennie Louise Copeland, who survives in Seymour.

Other survivors include a son, Gary (Jane) Doyle, Seymour; three daughters, Rita (Jack) Bush, Sherry (Marvin) Tiemeyer and Sandy (John) Spray, all of Seymour; three brothers, Foster Doyle, Kentucky, Herman Doyle, South Bend, and Irvin Doyle, Vallonia; three sisters, Clara Nolan, Evansville, Dorothy Cheek, Ohio, and Jeanette Barkman, Texas; five grandsons, Joseph Doyle, Shawn Spray, Shane Spray, Aaron Tiemeyer and Nick Tiemeyer; five granddaughters, Pamela Knotts, Kimberly Bush, Kelly Walker, Kari Wolfe and Shannon House; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Maude Doyle; two brothers, Arthur Doyle and Richard Doyle; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

The Rev. Bruce Cochran will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
