From the Portland Daily Commercial, , Saturday, September 9, 1899 The veterans of
Company H of the One Hundredth Indiana held their annual reunion of Friday at
the home of Mel Near, and spent the day most pleasantly. Those
in attendance at the reunion were., J.W. Headington, S.R. Wilkinson,
Robie Towle, Eli Rines, J. Rathburn, Ben Shanks, Al
Mason, Henry Hammons, all of Portland, Samuel Allman, of
Hartford City, Jacob Bosworth of Pennville, William Wiley and Wesley
Horner of Geneva, O.W. Rarrick of Greenville, Ohio, A.Q. Mills
of Greene, Soloman Barnes and Milford C. Carr of Dunkirk.
In addition there were firends present to swell the number to 200.
Addresses were made by Hon. Issaac Underwood of Camden, Solomon
Barnes, Eli Rines, Robie Towle, C.W. Rarrick, and Judge John W. Headington Miss Rines gave a
delcamation and Mrs. Frank Headington and Misses Ina Barnes and
Carrol Dunkirk furnished music. After a sumptuous dinner the
veterans resolved to hold the next meeting at Camden. and elected the
following officers. President. Jacob
Bosworth, Secretary, J.W. Heardington. The grounds has been prepared in
good shape with the assistance of Jacob Walker. A photograph of
the entire party and then one of the reunion veterans were taken. |
