Caption: Eugene Frasher Portland, Ind., Dec. 30.- Because of a
plainly growing sentiment against "foreign devils," Eugene Frasher,
28, a native of this county, has been compelled to give up a responsible
position in China. Frasher has been at Canton, China, for over a year,
where he was employed as construction engineer on the imperial Chinese
railway. A letter just received by his parents here, written by him from Manila, P. I., says that he became fearful of his life and thought it best to leave the flowery kingdom as quickly as possible. |
