Will Fight Verdict. BOASTED SHE BOUGHT HIM Suit Was Brought by Son of the Defendant to Declare
Her Insane. Portland, Ind., Dec. 17.- The jury this
afternoon, after an hour and a half's deliberation, decided that Mrs. Jane
Brown of Jackson township, is of unsound mind. Mrs. Brown, nee
LaFollette, had conveyed her farm and other property to Daniel E. Brown on
her marriage to him and it was alleged that she boasted she had bought him
and paid for him. This verdict by the jury calls for the appointment
of a guardian for Mrs. Brown and then an effort will be made to set aside the
conveyance of the land to Brown. Mrs. Brown announces that she will not
only resist the guardianship, but will appeal to the supreme court if a new
trial is refused her. The suit to establish unsoundness was brought by a
son after his mother had married Brown and turned her property over to him. The Muncie Morning Star, December 21, 1904 GUARDIAN FOR MRS. BROWN (by Star Special Service) Declared Insane Because She Transferred Property to
Husband. Portland, Ind., Dec. 20.- Samuel Brunson was
yesterday appointed guardian for Mrs. Jane Brown, who was declared of unsound
mind by a jury, because she conveyed all of her property to a new husband. |
