Jay County Obituaries
Newspaper clipping from family bible of Wesley and Phoebe (Gaunt) Crisler:
ANGELINE CRISLER, daughter of Vincent and Mary Lake, was born in Licking county near Newark, Ohio, May 21, 1842, and departed this life at the home of her son in Redkey on January 16, 1920, age 77 years, 7 months and 25 days.
She, with her parents, moved to Jay county, Indiana and settled on a farm near Como when she was twelve years old, and grew to womanhood. In February 1862, she was united in marriage to Isaac Crisler, and to this union was born two children, a son Vincent, and a daughter, Margaret Ellen, wife of Charles Kauffman. The son survives, but her daughter preceded her several years ago.
She and her husband moved to Redkey in 1876, where they lived until November 25 (sic), 1886, when her husband was called to the great beyond. She was a charter member of the Christian Church of Redkey, and lived a faithful and consistent member, ready and willing at all times to do what she could in promoting and emulating the cause of Christ, and died in the triumph of a living faith having spoken many times during her last illness of her prospects for Heaven and Eternal Glory.
She leaves to mourn her departure one son, two sisters, one brother, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, January 19, at one oclock conducted by Rev. Wakeman of Portland. Interment in Claycomb cemetery.
(note: Isaac Crisler actually died November 12, 1886)
