Anna Christina (Bickel) Ashley died Sunday morning at 9:20 o'clock at the home of
her son, Luther Ashley, three
miles south of the city, following a few days illness of infirmities of old
age.
The deceased was a
daughter of George and Nancy Glassford Bickel and was born in
Funeral services
will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Salamonia
Christian church, two miles southeast of the city, in charge of Rev. Fred Stovenour.

Obituary
Anna
Christina (Bickel) Ashley, was born in Preble county, Ohio, 81 years
ago. She was united in marriage to
Warren Ashley and to this union were born six children, five sons and one
daughter. The sons are as follows:
James Bickel, A.J. Ashley, William, Luther, W.D., Charles. The daughter married Christ Wall who
resides in Kansas.
Mrs. Ashley has been a a member of the
U.B. church for fifty years. Her life
has been that of a model Christian. There is no doubt she was the resident of
Jay county having lived here 79 years.
She was kind and generous to all classes of people. She kne (sic) much about the privations of
early settlers. In her entire life
there were constantly lessons of industry, sobriety and economy. It was a noble women (sic) as these who
laid in early times the foundation on which has been built the subsequent
structure of civilization of Jay county.
The generation of today will never know fully, their indebtedness to
the generation of her time.
Funeral
services at Salamonia church, Tuesday, October 11th at 2:00 o'clock, P.M., in
charge of Rev. F. Stovenour.
Interment near the church where she will peacefully rest until the
Resurrection Trumpet shall wake the sleeping dust of all the silent dead.
