Rites for Portland Soldier Saturday 

Portland, Ind., Sept 7 - The body of Pvt. Charles L. Hathaway, 29, of Portland, who was killed in France August 3, 1944, will arrive here Thursday night and will be taken to the Williamson mortuary.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the mortuary, with the Rev. H.G. Perry officiating.  Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery, where the military organizations will give the final rites. 

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Hathaway Gibson of Portland; two daughters, Malinda and Charlene, both at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Byers of near Muncie and Mrs. Edith Trussel of Blountsville, and three brothers, Elmer of Miami Springs, Fla., Raymond of Miami, Fla., and Leland, stationed in South America by the U.S. Air Force
