Commercial Review, Saturday, December 4, 1920, pg 3

The funeral services of DAVID C. GAUNT, 63,  Jay County's Truant Officer who died Thursday afternoon at his home in Dunkirk, following a stroke of apoplexy were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late home.

Joseph Gaunt, assistant cashier of the Farmers State Bank of this city, is one of five sons surviving him, Geo. (sic-should be Charles) L. and Orlan Gaunt of Dunkirk and Floyd and Myron Gaunt of Anderson being the other four.   The widow and a daughter, Miss Edith Gaunt, who is attending school at Indianapolis, also survive.

Mr. Gaunt had spent practically all his life on a farm in Knox township and had only recently moved to Dunkirk.   He was a member of the Methodist church and Odd Fellows Lodge.   The deceased was elected county truant officer only a few weeks ago to succeed William Gard, deceased.   A meeting of the county board of education will be called soon to select another officer
