The funeral services of DAVID C. GAUNT, 63, Jay County's
Truant Officer who died Thursday afternoon at his home in Dunkirk, following a
stroke of apoplexy were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late
home.
Joseph Gaunt, assistant cashier of the Farmers State Bank of this
city, is one of five sons surviving him, Geo. (sic-should be Charles) L.
and Orlan Gaunt of Dunkirk and Floyd and Myron Gaunt of Anderson being the
other four. The widow and a daughter, Miss Edith Gaunt, who is
attending school at Indianapolis, also survive.
Mr. Gaunt had spent practically all his life on a farm in Knox township and
had only recently moved to Dunkirk. He was a member of the Methodist church
and Odd Fellows Lodge. The deceased was elected county truant officer only a
few weeks ago to succeed William Gard, deceased. A meeting of the county board
of education will be called soon to select another officer
