Funeral services were held at Dunkirk yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock for
ELI BARBER, 81, who passed away at 7 o'clock Saturday night at the Easthaven
hospital for the insane at Richmond. Services were in charge of Rev. J.H. Nall,
of this city, and Rev. Curts, of Dunkirk. Interment was made in the Claycomb
cemetery.
The deceased was born in Darke Co., Ohio, February 22, 1844, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Barber. He had been an inmate of the Richmond institution for the
past year and a half. His wife Lucy (Gaunt) Barber, preceded him in death.
The remains were brought back to this city by Undertaker N.R. Williamson,
accompanied by the decedent's son, Fremont Barber, of Salamonia. The following
children survive: William, of Fort Wayne; Fremont, of Salamonia; Virgil, of
Dunkirk; Russell, of Muncie; Mrs. Elizabeth Spahr, of Marion; Mrs. Bessie
Rhoads and Bernice Barber, both of Muncie; twenty-eight grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren. One brother, Cal Barber, of Hartford City, also survives.
