Portland - I. Garth Oler,
83, a former resident of New Castle
and until recently a resident of Pennville, died Wednesday evening at the Willow
Hall Nursing Home in Hartford City,
where he and his wife have resided for the past several months.
He was born in Jay
County Aug.
7, 1885, the son of Martin and Mary (Kiser) Oler. On Sept. 4, 1915, he married Harriett G.
Pingry, who survives.
Other survivors are several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Oler was a former member of the New Castle First Christian Church. He
was a 50-year member of the Geneva Lodge 621 F. and A.M. and the Crescens Lodge
33 K. of P. of New Castle.
He was a retired Chrysler Corp. employee.
Funeral services will be Saturday at
1:30 p.m. in Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home at Portland. Rev. Frank Garton of Ossian will
officiate. Burial will be in Pennville I.O.O.F.
Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after noon
