Commercial Review, Monday, December 14, 1942

JESSE PHILLIPS, aged 82, of West Main street, Redkey, died Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock from diabetic complications.   He had been in failing health for some time, but his condition had not been considered serious.

  His son, Earl Phillips, had called to take him to the office of a physician, when he became worse and expired suddenly.
  The deceased was a son of James and Mary Ann Phillips, and was born near Redkey.   In 1882, he was married to Clara Gray, who preceded him in death in 1892.   Surviving are two sons, Frank Phillips and Earl Phillips, of Muncie.   He was preceded in death by one son and two daughters.   Mrs. Austa Gray, of Redkey, is an aunt.

  The body was removed to the Jones funeral home for preparation, where it will remain, and where friends are invited to call.   Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Jones chapel.   Rev. E.S. McKee, patsor (sic) of the Methodist church, will officiate.   Interment will be made in Hillcrest cemetery, south of Redkey
