JOHN LEWIS SPADE, son of Rev William Spade and Mary Pingry, Spade, was born June 10, 1854 near Bryant, Ind., and departed this life Oct. 23, 1946 at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 13 days.  

He was united in marriage to Martha R. Miller Nove 13, 1880.  To this union were born 4 sons, Frank, of Oblong, Sylvester of Battle Creek, Mich., Dick of Dunkirk, Ind., Hoyt of Robinson, and one daughter, Mrs Zella Baker of Dunkirk. 

They moved in Robinson in 1920 where the wife died May 18, 1923.  In Nov 1924, he was united in marriage to Lula J. Higgins who survives with the four sons, daughter and step daughter, Mrs Evelyn Jones of Casey, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. Janne Eichelberger of Indianapolis.  He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. He confessed and was baptized Oct. 19, 1946.   

Short funeral services were held at the residence near Flat Rock, [Ill.,] Friday at 10:00 a.m. and the body was brought to the Hones Mortuary in Dunkirk.
