   LAFAYETTE BEECH died Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock at the home of his son, William Beech, of five miles northwest of this city.  He had been in failing health for several years and his condition became critical about four weeks ago. 

   The deceased was a son of William and Mary (Percell) Beech and was born in Auglaize county, Ohio, August 2, 1853.  He came to Jay county 52 years ago, and has lived in the county since that time.  The family resided near Brice for a number of years, later moving northwest of Portland. 

   He was united in marriage to Margaret Imes, who preceded him in death, June 27, 1901.  He is survived by one son, William Beech, at whose home he died, and a half-brother, Jefferson Beech, of Lakeview, Ohio. 

   Funeral services will be conducted from the Lower Salamonia Christian church, Friday morning at 10:30 o’clock.  Rev. R.L. Kessler will officiate.  Interment will be made in the church cemetery.
