 Death Claims Luther Ashley

 Lifelong Resident Of Pike Township Dies At Winchester

  Luther Ashley, lifelong resident of Pike township, died Friday afternoon at 1:50 o'clock at the Randolph County hospital in Winchester, where he underwent a major operation, August 28.  The deceased was born January 24, 1862, in Pike township, the son of Warren and Christine (Bickel) Ashley, being 77 years, 7 months and 15 days of age at the time of his death.  He was united in marriage September 20, 1890, to Jermina E. Winegardner who preceded him in death in  (___).  Mr. Ashley was a prominent Pike township retired farmer and had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Thad Bisel, at Bluff Point for the past year. 

Surviving are one daughter, Leo, wife of Thad Bisel, of Bluff Point; one brother, W.D. Ashley, of Wayne township; two grandsons, Theurl Bisel, of Pontiac, Mich., and Glenn Bisel, of Bluff Point, nd one great-granddaughter, Sandra K. Bisel.  He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, two sisters and one half-brother. 

 The body was removed to the Williamson & Sons funeral home for burial preparations and will be taken to the home of the daughter at Bluff Point, this afternoon.  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Lower Salamonia church on the Boundary Pike, in charge of Rev. J. H. Nall, pastor of the Portland United Brethren church, assisted by Rev. Henry Gast.  Interment will be made in the Lower Salamonia cemetery.
