MRS. MARY E. CLAYCOMB,
aged 77, died Tuesday morning at 5:10 o’clock at the home of a son, Earl
Claycomb, in Knox township. Death
was due to an illness of five months.
The deceased was a daughter
of Levi and Margaret (Lake) James, and was born in Greene township, October 6,
1865. She had been a lifelong
resident of Jay county.
On July 6, 1883, she was
married to John L. Claycomb, who preceded her in death, August 26, 1904.
She is survived by five children, Francis E. Claycomb, of Mishawaka;
Mrs. Gertrude Westervelt, of Muncie;
Earl Claycomb, of Knox township, at whose home death occurred;
Lee Claycomb, of Redkey; and
Mrs. Lucille Champ of Powers Station.
She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Frank James, of Muncie. One brother, William James, is deceased.The body was brought to the Baird funeral home for preparation, and will be returned to the residence of the son Wednesday morning, where friends are invited to call. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the Hopewell United Brethren church, southwest of Portland. Rev. S. K. Saylor, of Redkey, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Claycomb cemetery
