Jay County Obituaries

Commercial Review, Monday, August 9, 1909, pg 1:

She lived to Ripe Old Age.   Infirmities of Advancing Years Claim MRS. NANCY LONG of Liber, Aged 83.

Bedridden for three months, MRS. NANCY LONG, widow of the late James R. Long, died Sunday afternoon at 5:00 o'clock at her home in Liber of Chronic Bright's disease.   She was born in Pocahontas County, Virginia March 27, 1826, and came to this county when but seven years old, locating on the Kaderly farm in Madison township.

She had resided in Jay County ever since.   Perhaps she and Aunt Cal Clark are the two oldest residents of Jay County.
She is survived only by four children, Hiram, of Liber;  John, of Omaha, Nebraska, who several days ago was notified of his mother's serious condition and is here;  William, who resided with his mother;  and Mrs. Maud Snyder, of California.   Mrs. Snyder could not come for the funeral.

The funeral services will be conducted at the Liber church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.   Interment will be at the Liber Cemetery.
