Commercial Review, Monday, April 13, 1925  (an abstract)

    PALMER J. SMITH, 91, died Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock of a Cerebral Hemmorage.   Lived on East Main Street.   Had been a resident of Jay County for 79 years. 

   He was born in Clark County, Ohio, September 11, 1834.  His father was Abraham C. Smith who settled in Knox township in 1838.  Abraham died November of 1863. 

   Palmer was probate judge of Jay County for 7 years.   He was one of 12 children. 

Married March 2, 1869 Jennie S. Winters.  A son, W. Lea Smith, served 8 years as auditor. 

   His children were: Wilburn Lea;  George Henry;  Chester and Hattie Elizabeth, the latter two being deceased.   His wife preceded him in death September 9, 1923. 

   Burial: Green Park Cemetery.

Concerning the funeral of Palmer J. Smith:  Those attending from out of state were George Smith and daughter Angela, of Cleveland.
