Suffered Ten Years Of Cancer Death Came To Mrs. Polly Bell Wednesday Night Funeral Friday Afternoon.
Mrs. Polly Bell, wife of Lewis Bell, died at midnight Wednesday after an illness of about ten years from cancer. Mrs. Bell had been bedfast about six months. She was born in Meigs Co., Ohio Feb. 14, 1849, being past 61 years of age. She was the daughter of Ebenezer and Mary Ann Jones, who resided for many years northeast of Portland.
Mrs. Bell leaves her mother, who resided with her, and with her brother Ebenezer S. Jones. She also leaves, besides her husband, a son Ed. Bell, of Green township, one sister, Mrs. Mahlon Peters, of Muncie, a brother Ebenezer S. Jones, superintendent of the county infirmary and another brother John, who left here nineteen years ago for Iowa and whom the family have not heard from since. Eight grandchildren survive. A daughter of Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Callie Limie, died four years ago at her home northeast of Portland, and a son, William Bell died seven years ago in this county.The funeral services will he held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from Providence Chapel, Rev. Fred Stovenour will officiate. Interment in Green Park cemetery. The funeral party will leave the home at 1:00.
