SILAS HISER died at
11:00 o’clock Wednesday night at the home on West Seventh street.
He had been in failing health since being injured in an auto accident
about two years ago, from which he never seemed to recover.
The deceased was a son of
Jacob and Elizabeth (Roby) Hiser, and was born in Greene township, November 30,
1846, and had spent his entire life in the county.
He moved to Portland in 1907, where he has since resided.
He served as a substitute rural mail carrier from the local office for
several years.
He was united in marriage to
Martha Jane Mills, who preceded him in death, January 24, 1927.
He is survived by one son, J. O. Hiser, of this city, five grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
The body was removed to the
Baird funeral home and prepared for interment and taken to the home of the son,
J. O. Hiser, on South Meridian street, this afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from
the Hiser residence. Rev. H. R.
Carson, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, will officiate.
Interment will be made in the Claycomb cemetery, southwest of this city.
