Mrs Janett Hagaman died last Saturday morning at the home
of her son Charles, in this city, after an illness which
had affected her in a greater or less degree for some time,
She had been a sufferer from rheumatism fro several years,
and it is supposed that this affecting her lungs, caused her
death. Mrs. Hageman’s maiden name was Shields, and she was
born at Auburn, New York, Nov. 5, 1826. Her parents died when
she was quite young, and in 1832 she moved with the family of
an uncle to Madison, Indiana, and again in 1843 moved with
them to Fairview, in this state. Dec 18, 1845, she was married
to Cornelius D. Hagaman. Four children were born to them, of
whom two Charley and Frank still live, and in 1863 the husband
died. In 1866 Mrs. Hagaman came to Bushnell, and her she
resided until her death. She was an earnest and consistent
Christian and a woman of very exemplary character. She joined
the Episcopal church at the age of fourteen years ,but about
four years later transferred her allegiance to the Reformed
Church, of which she was a member until called from earth.
The funeral discourse was preached at the home Saturday
afternoon at four o’clock, and on Sunday the remains were
interned at Fairview.
