They came to New Castle in 1916 and purchased a grocery store on D Avenue.  Later they operated a grocery on Broad St. and also one on North Main St. They have now retired.

Two sons, Ralph and Richard, were born to the couple.  They have three grandsons, Robert of Charleston, W. Va., Max, of New Castle, and Ralph, Jr., of Chicago.  There is also one grand daughter and one great grand daughter.
