Mabel Beier
      Mabel Beier, 72, Jonesville, died Thursday at her home.
      She was a long-time resident of southwestern Bartholomew 
County and an employee of the former Mudd’s Furniture store.  
She attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Garden City.
      Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday 
at the Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Rest 
Haven Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 
3 to 9 p.m.
      Born Dec. 29, 1913, in Johnson County, she was a daughter 
of Roscoe and Bonnie Barker Compton.  She married Harold 
Beier in 1943.  He died in 1980.
      Survivors include three sons, Donald Beier, Clebourne, Texas; 
James Richard Beier, Columbus; and Ron Beier, Edinburgh; a 
daughter, Bonnie Sharp, Jonesville; three sisters, Mildred Long, 
Columbus; Lela Waltz, Edinburgh; and Laura Van Vleet, Franklin; 
four brothers, Mode Compton, Cape Coral, Fla.; Roscoe Compton, 
Indianapolis; William Compton, Columbus; and John Compton, 
Columbus, and three grandchildren.
