Martha E. Burton, 88, of 2851 McKinley, Columbus, died at her home at 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday after a lengthy illness.

She was a member of Apostolic United Pente­costal Church and for many years she and her husband, the late David G. Burton, owned and op­erated a vegetable mar­ket in the Columbus area. She also made and sold ceme­tery wreaths many years.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Charles Kelley at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home. Burial was at Gar­land Brook Cemetery.

Mrs. Burton was born in Adair County, Ky., Nov. 12, 1891 to Ben and Sarah Jane Burton. She was mar­ried to Burton Aug. 18, 1907 and he died Nov. 2, 1975.

Survivors include a son, Joe Burton, of Edinburg; four daughters, Mrs. Gor­don Burton of 151 Jones, Mrs. Leonard Caldwell of 2011 McKinley, Irene Wil­son of Triangle Trailer Court and Mrs. Ernest Roberts of Nashville route 4; a brother, Jim Burton of 2851 McKinley; a sister, Charity Burton of Indianapolis; two half-sisters, Lorene Stuart and Lou Farris of Edinburg; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Benny and Wilmer Burton; and two daughters, Ruth Sand­fur and Marie Burton.
