Fred Caplinger
      EDINBURGH  - Fred Caplinger, 75, Route
1, died Friday night at Johnson County Memorial 
Hospital in Franklin.
      He lived most of his life in the Franklin 
area.  He was a retired, self-employed carpenter 
and was a World War II Army veteran.
      Funeral service will be conducted by the 
Rev. Leroy Collins at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Eskew-
Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh where calling 
hours will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today.  Burial 
will be at Lick Spring Cemetery.
      Caplinger was born in Johnson County Aug. 
1, 1910, the son of Samuel Edward and Ollie 
Gross Caplinger.  He married Fern Haines Sept. 
8, 1942, and she died in 1981.
      Survivors include two stepsons, Harold 
Haines of Route 1 and Hayden Haines of 
Trafalger; a sister, Mary Brown of Franklin, 
seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
