Mildred C. Long
      Mildred C. Durham Long, 82, died Sunday at Columbus 
Convalescent Center.  She had been a resident of Edinburgh 
for many years.
      Born Feb. 14, 1910, in Johnson County, she was the 
daughter of Roscoe Compton and Bonnie (Barker) Compton.  
She was married to Carl Long, who preceded her in death.
      A homemaker, Mrs. Long was a member of Westport 
Christian Church, Prairie Farmers Wives Club, TOPS in 
Westport and the Ladies Auxiliary Forest Hill Christian 
Church.
      Other survivors include a daughter, Dorothy M. Owens 
of Albany, Ky.; a son, Max Compton Durham of Stilesville; 
a nephew, Ron Beier of Edinburgh; four brothers, William 
Compton of Columbus, John Compton of Taylorsville, 
Roscoe Compton of Indianapolis, and Mode Compton of 
Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Laura Van Vleet of Franklin; six 
grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews.
      She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel 
Beier and Lela Waltz, and a great-grandchild.
      A service was conducted Tuesday at Eskew-Eaton 
Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy H. Chizmar officiating.  
Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery.
      Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzhei-

      EDINBURGH Š Mildred Compton Durham Long, 82, 
of Edinburgh, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 1992, at Columbus 
Convalescent Center.
      The widow of the late Carl Long, she was a member of 
Westport Christian Church, Prairie FarmersÕ Wives Club, 
TOPS in Westport and the Ladies Auxiliary at Forest Hills 
Christian Church.  She lived most of her life in Edinburgh, 
moving to Westport in later life.
      Funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by Eskew-
Eaton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nan Chizmar officiating.  
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today.  Burial will be at Rest 
Haven Cemetery.
      Memorials may be made to the AlzheimerÕs Association.
      Mrs. Long was born Feb. 14, 1910, in Johnson County, 
the daughter of Roscoe and Bonnie Barker Compton.
