Aged Edinburg Woman Had Suffered
Long Illness-Died Saturday
EDINBURG. Oct 9 - Mrs. Mary B. Wirey,
age 81, mother of Mrs. Ben Keaton of
Franklin, died Saturday at her home
in Edinburg following a long illness.
She was the widow of Michael Wirey and
had lived in Edinburg 41 years.
Funeral services will be held Tues-
day at 2 p.m. at the Edinburg Christian
Church and burial will be made in Rest
Haven Cemetery. Friends are invited to
call at the home and to attend the services.
Mrs. Wirey was born Nov. 28, 1862
in Brown County, the daughter of John and
Sally Anderson Coy. Her father, a Union
soldier, was killed in the Civil War be-
fore she was born. He is buried in a
Tennessee military cemetery. On March 16,
1882, she was united in marriage to Michael
Wirey, who preceded her in death 22 years
ago.
Surviving are five children. Mrs.
Cora Galey, Orphia Wirey and Mrs. Ben
Keaton of Franklin and Prentice Wirey,
A.A.A. 1 c. U.S.N., Patuxent River, Md.,
who with his family arrived Monday to
attend the services. Nine grandchildren
and two great grandchildren survive. Mrs.
Wirey was the last member of
her immediate family.
Mrs. Wirey was a member of the
Edinburg Christian Church.
