I believe
the
"cornerstone" above the center window on the South side is dated
1872. There was no writing on the back but I'm sure the young girl on
the front
porch is my grandmother, Clemma, and she looks to be age 12-16 so the
photo
probably dates to 1882-1886. I believe the woman in black on the South
porch is
my great-grandmother, Katie Jane (Childs) NEWNAM and the other lady is
her
sister, Martha Childs who lived with them. I'm less sure about he men -
I think
the one in middle is I.B.NEWNAM and the one on the right is his son,
Harmer,
who became a Doctor. The one on left resembles my grandfather, William
WALTER,
but looks too grown up compared to Clemma.

The
LaGrange County Library has a wonderful microfilm
collection that is accessible to the public. It is open the same
hours as
the library and you can view the pages for free or print them for 15
cents a page. The last time I used it, I was able to take a
memroy stick and scan pages to a pdf file and then jsut put htem to my
stick. You will find the link to the library in our Links
section. Please remember, it is not the
responsibility of the library to search
for articles or make copies. Out of kindness to them, please
don't make requests to do so. If you have an interesting article
and the cite source pertaining to LaGrange Co., please email it to
lagrange_history@yahoo.com and we will get it posted in a timely
manner.
