Joseph Francis Patterson
VETERAN DRUGGIST DIES
Joseph F. Patterson Had Been In Business 40 Years Here Death removed a life-long resident of this vicinity several days ago in the person of Joseph F. Patterson, 68, druggist. He had been in failing health for the past three years, but a general breakdown, superinduced by an attack of the “flu,” was the direct cause of death. Mr. Patterson had been in the drug business in Loogootee for the past 40 years. He was born in Daviess County, between Loogootee and Alfordsville. Forty-five years ago he married Miss Viva E. Canolty, who survives him. Eleven children were born to them. Seven are living. They are Mrs. Clarence Gootee [Mary Ethyl], Mrs. Everette Devault [Helen Cecilia], Mrs. Maurice A. Healy [Margaret M.], and George B. Patterson, all of Loogootee, and Will J. of Indianapolis and Ralph of Okmulgee, Okla. A brother, William P., of Gary, and two sisters, Mrs. Acie Norris and Mrs. Ella McCauley, both of Loogootee also survive. The funeral was held Monday morning at St. John’s Catholic church. Burial was in St. John’s cemetery. Just what disposition will be made of Mr. Patterson’s drug store has not been decided upon. Mr. Patterson’s widow, who has been invalided for many years, has been very ill. Martin County Tribune Thursday, February 26, 1925 Submitted by: Patricia Newman |
