Veterans Memorial Dedication, Newburgh, In.
July 28, 2008

Sheri Sherman, member of the Newburgh Town Council, was the M C for the
dedication of the Veterans Memorial in Newburgh, In., July 26, 2008 at 9:00
AM CDT.
The memorial is located at the intersection of Bell Road and State St.(Hwy.
261) Newburgh, In.
John Branson, Post Commander, American Legion Post 44, Newburgh, In.
presented the dedication speech for the memorial.
Indiana State Senator Vaneta Becker delivered remarks concerning the
monument and what it stood for.
Other dignitaries included members of Newburgh Town Council, a representative
from Indiana's Congressional Representative Brad Ellsworth. Also present
were members of Capt. Henry Vanderburgh Chapter NSDAR. The American Legion
Patriot Riders and the Post 44 Legion's Ladies Aux. were well represented.
The U. S. Army Reserves furnished a deuce & 1/2 to transport individuals from
parking areas to the memorial site. The Town of Newburgh furnished a trolley
to transport individuals from area parking lots to the memorial.
The combined Color Guards under the command of Clyde Breeden, Capt. of the
Guard, Post 44, presented the Colors for the singing of the National Anthem
and Color Guards conducted a rifle salute. The Colors were also presented
by the combined Color Guards for the Post 44 bugler's playing of Taps.
