Edward F. Altheide, 76, St. Philips nurseryman and owner-operator of Altheide Greenhouse there, died at 3:15 am today at his home after a lingering illness.


The body is at Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville where friends may call after Saturday noon. It will remain there until taken at 11 am Monday to St. Peter's Methodist Church at St. Philips, of which the deceased was a member.


Rev. W.R. Lathom, pastor of St. Peter's Church, will conduct the funeral service in the church at 2 pm Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.


Surviving are the wife, Henrietta; two daughters, Misses Matilda and Minnie Altheide, at home, who assisted their father in the operation of the greenhouse; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Schmidt and Mrs. Louise Huck, both of Evansville, and a brother Oscar, Evansville.
